Countries and People

This module sets out to provide a thumbnail sketch of each of the countries in Europe.

Currently, thirty countries have essential data: their history, geography, government, economy, peoples and culture.

The Government section sometimes has the national anthem, which can be heard in MIDI, MP3 or from the Scorch score.  The latter is a simple instrumental arrangement which can also be printed out.

Scorch requires a plug-in, for which there is an automatic prompt to download if not already installed - administrator permission is needed. Scorch is supported by Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari, but currently does not work with Google Chrome.

The "Find out more" section has links to a variety of external web pages where other interesting information, photos and stories can be found.

With exception of the islands Cyprus, Iceland and Malta, each country map has interactive links to the neighbouring states. Thus you can 'surf' anywhere across Europe.
