Chinese and other 1.1% (data from the 2001 census). The size of the minority ethnic population was 4.5 million in 2001/02 or 7.6% of the total UK population. In Great Britain (excluding N Ireland) the ethnic minority population grew by 44% between 1991 and 2001/02, from 3.1 million in 1991 to 4.5 million in 2001/02.

Language:  English, Welsh (21% spoken in Wales), Gaelic (spoken in western isles of Scotland) and Irish (spoken a little in Northern Island)

Religions: Christian 71.8%, Islam 2.8%, no religion 15%.
