Geography

Area of 45,000 sq km.

Bordering countries are Latvia and Russia.  Estonia has 3,794 km of coastline on the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland. There are some 1,500 islands and islets

Largest cities – Tallinn (capital - population 427,900**), Tartu (104,110*), Narva (64,900*) (data from **2013/*2012)

Main rivers - Vöhandu – longest.  Pärnu, Pöltsamaa.

Terrain: Estonia has much low lying and often marshy terrain, with hills in the south.
*  47% is forest.
*  There are about 1,400 lakes – the largest is Lake Peipas.
*  Suur Munamägi (Big Egg Hill) 318 m. is the highest peak in the Baltic region.
