Population  1.27 million (estimated July 2013).   Estonia is one of the least populous members of the EU.

Ethnic groups - Estonian 68.7%, Russian 25.6%, Ukrainian 2.1%, Belarussian 1.2%, Finns 0.8%, others 1.6%. (data from census 2008)

Languages – Estonian 67.3%, a Finno-Ugric language.   Russian 29.7%.  Others 2.3%

Religion - Lutheran 13.6%, Orthodox 12.8%, other Christian 1.4%. Over 70% claim no religious affiliation – one of the highest levels in the world (2000 census).
