Kuršiu Nerija - the Curonian Spit

Kuršių Nerija (the Curonian Spit) is a thin, curved sand-dune peninsula 98 km long.  It separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. The northern 52 km long stretch of the Curonian Spit peninsula belongs to Lithuania, while the southern part is in Kaliningrad. The Lithuanian part of the peninsula is a National Park and a World Heritage site. The whole area mainly consists of sandy beaches, forests, roads and sometimes wooden houses.
